• Don’t wash your down jacket routinely, but only when really necessary.
  • Always check the neck label for instructions and follow them closely.
  • Remove what stains you can using a moist piece of cloth.
  • Don’t leave zippers or velcro open, close as much as possible.
  • Wash the jacket inside out to reduce the chance of damage.
  • Don’t use as much washing detergent as you normally do, reduce it to 30%.
  • Do wash more garments at the same time, so that the washing machine is half full. This stabilizes the centrifuge.
  • Never wash on more than 40 degrees celsius.
  • Be sure to remove all detergent by rinsing 4-5 times.
  • If you have some tennis balls available, you can put some in the tumbledryer. Clean sneakers can also be used.
  • Tumble dry the down jacket gently, at a maximum of 60 degrees. Use a gentle program if it is available.
  • Shake the jacket now and again to avoid that the down sticks together in small lumps.
  • Check that the down jacket is really dry before you hang it up after tumble drying it.
  • Finally, before you hang up the jacket, shake and stroke it to allow the down to spread.
